Prospective Judges:

We would like to cordially invite you to participate as a judge at the
2008 New Hampshire Science & Engineering Exposition (NHSEE).   As
an individual working in a career associated with science and
engineering it is important that we take a moment out of our busy life to
inspire, share and celebrate NH youth at a critical period in their
scientific education.

The Expo will take place on Tuesday, March 1
3th in the Wellness Center
Gym at New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord from
9:00 AM – 2:30 PM.  This year's exposition will showcase the results of
students' efforts in either of two ways; in the Open Competition students
will present their independent research efforts through poster
presentations or through a Challenge Competition in which students in
teams compete against each other in designed challenges.

When judging research projects you will spend approximately 15-20
minutes viewing each presentation as displayed on the poster board
and discussing the research involved with the student(s) present.  You
will then assess each project and tabulate the score earned by the
student(s) using an evaluation sheet which will be provided to you
during the Judges' meeting.

When judging the Challenge events, pairs of judges will work together to
determine if the each team's "solution" meets all designated
specifications, to take and record any measurements required, and to
calculate each individual team score.  Judges will also assess team
posters during the construction phase of the event.  The evaluation
phase ends for each team when the judges meet with each team after the
competition to discuss the outcome of the event as it applies to their
"solution".

Registration for judges will take place from 8:30 – 9:00 AM.  Judges will
meet from 9:00 – 9:30 AM to review general instructions about judging
and to hear any last minute announcements.  Judges will then breakup
into groups by subject area for more specific instructions.  Coffee, tea, or
juice and Danish will be available at this meeting.

Judging will take place from 10:00 AM -1:00 PM.  Lunch will be available
for all judges and NHSEE staff from 12:00 - 1:00 PM. Judges are free to
leave once they have completed their assignment.  However all are
invited to stay for the award ceremony from 2:00 – 2:30 PM.

Should you accept this invitation to judge, let us say, "Thank you".  We
appreciate your time and expertise.  If you are planning on attending we
would appreciate that you take a moment to register at this time. Please
indicate your preference to judge either the
Open Competitions or
Challenge Competitions when registering on-line at www.nhsee.org.

The NHSEE Steering Committee looks forward to meeting with you on
the 18th of March.  In the meantime, please feel free to contact us if you
should have any additional questions. Additionally, please help us by
forwarding this invitation to any other qualified individual who might be
interested in participating in this worthwhile event.

Thank you so much for your consideration.
